The California Foster Youth Tax Credit (FYTC) is a refundable state tax credit designed to support eligible current and former foster youth who worked and earned income.

✨ Eligible individuals may receive up to $1,189 through the Foster Youth Tax Credit.
Some filers may also qualify for the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), which can increase the total amount received.

✅ You may qualify for the Foster Youth Tax Credit if you:
✔️ Are between ages 18–25 at the end of the tax year
✔️ Were in foster care at age 13 or older
✔️ Earned income from work
✔️ Meet CalEITC eligibility requirements
